Vibe Mobile App

Introduction

This is an Ethereum-based blockchain app where people can publish and enjoy listening to music.

The music industry is expanding with more artists coming out and showcasing their work. With the advancement in technology, people are able to access music more easily and are purchasing music digitally online rather than physical CDs. There are upsides to this as it is easier for musicians to make a living with a music career given the wider scope, but there are some issues that need to be addressed to provide a more fair, successful and pleasurable experience for musicians and music listeners.

Problem & Research
Competitive Analysis
Concept Validations

Based on the benchmarking analysis and research, around 10-15 small concepts/use-case scenarios were developed and shown to various people to get their inputs on how they feel about each concept. Out of all the concepts, these five received the most positive feedback and therefore, helped in creating a starting point for the final app design.

Solution

Thesis Statement

Through the power of blockchain technology, bringing musicians and music listeners together through music and social activity will provide them the economic benefits, and the trustworthy and enjoyable experience needed in the music industry

Highlights

The proposed solution was to design an ethereum based blockchain app where musicians can upload their music while protecting it from copyright and licensing issues, and listeners are guaranteed access to any content from anywhere around the world.

Users can direct message each other and socialize within the app.

There is also a social media aspect similar to Spotify where users can see what others are listening to. They can also direct message each other and musicians. Musicians can also use data to figure out which individuals they can directly message about their upcoming new releases. This data shows the number of streams or purchases of their songs, revenue and demographics of their listeners.

Musicians and listeners both have the opportunity to earn money.

Instead of listeners paying for subscription, the value of musician’s songs increase as more people purchase and listen to their songs. They will earn money at a faster rate as they gain more recognition. Listeners also have an opportunity to earn money by creating and publicizing playlists. They are rewarded for categorizing music and catering to others' tastes in music. Blockchain provides transparency between all these transactions.

Information Architecture
Brand

These warm colors were chosen to give the brand an exciting feeling that people generally gain from listening to music. The use of multiple bright colors helps give a vibrant feel to the brand.

Seravek font family is used in both the logo and the text in the mobile app it gives a friendly and unique look to the brand.

The name vibe was chosen for this app because it is a similar word to "feeling". This relates to the idea of music making people feel many types of emotions, or giving them good vibes.

The wave shape coming out of the "v" represents sound waves from the vibrations of music. This wave is used as a motif throughout the brand of the project.
